Talking about emotions can sometimes be difficult with E. She doesn’t love opening up about her feelings. To encourage her to open up, we use activities like this felt play to give the acorn emotions and talk about what might cause the acorn to feel this way. How do you talk with your littles about their emotions?

How is this acorn feeling today? I wonder what might make the acorn sad. What makes you sad? Show me on the acorn how you are feeling today? What has made you feel this way. What are some things that make you nervous? What are some things that make you happy? Do you think the same things that make you happy make other friends happy?
