DIY charms with shrink plastic and temporary tattoos might be my new all time favorite way to use temporary tattoos! You all know we love Ducky Street tattoos but did you know you could apply them to shrink plastic and make charms!?! I’m obsessed!
I initially tried using transparency sheets because I had read they behaved similar to shrink plastic. Unfortunately, I didn't have any luck in shrinking my transparency paper. Luckily, I remembered the stash of white Shrinky Dinks I purchased ages ago, and it worked like a charm!
Supplies & Instruction
Wet paper towel (to apply tattoos)
Round jump rings
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Apply the tattoos to the shrink plastic just as you would your skin. Cut around the image and punch a hole at the top. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet, then space out your pieces on the parchment paper, image side up. Once the oven is ready, place the cookie sheet in the oven and watch for the pieces to curl (don’t panic) they will soon uncurl and lay flat (don’t rush it). Make sure they are completely flat before opening that oven door. The whole heating process usually takes 2-3 minutes. Remove the cookie sheet and let the pieces cool. I usually leave my pieces to cool 1-2 minutes on the cookie sheet then remove them while still on the parchment paper and cool another 1-2 minutes.
Once our charms were made, we were off to making bracelets. We used plastic bead bracelets and added pony beads and alphabet pony beads along with our DIY tattoo charms. Once the girls were done, I added a dab of hot glue to keep the plastic bead bracelets closed.
